She'd felt the strange energy from far away in her vast wanderings of the world. She couldn't pinpoint what it exactly was but it had to do with something dark, something to do with death which was right up her alley. Immediately she'd turned from her wandering path straight to the direction of the disturbance that she found so intriguing.

It was a fair distance until she neared her target which she could tell was in the caves of Gin-Mizu. She now stood at the edge of the great lake, staring into its depths with her black eyes. Her fur stood up on end with the energy of the strange field and she quivered with anticipation of seeing what caused such a reaction. She stepped forward until her forepaws were in the water and then she began to change. Her fur shortened and hardened into thick scales as her body became larger, more deadly, more water-ready. A silver alligator slid into the water and swam to the center of the lake before submerging swiftly. Shadow could feel the energy pulsing through her as she headed closer to the source, the cave beneath the lake.

The deity came up to land when arrived inside the cave, she knew this place was created to worship creatures like her so she felt welcome in this place. Her awkward alligator form was replaced with her natural feline form as she walked further into the cave. Her silver paws were placed daintily as she trod up to the statue in the center of the cave. There she sat with her head raised as her eyes closed, whiskers trembling, and her brow with the moon-shape marking furrowed in concentration. The feeling of pervading death kept her rooted to the spot, the blood-water meant something. This place was going to yield some sort of prize, she just knew it.

The waters were as cold as ice, though being in the furthest reaches of the Gin Mizu tunneling would have had a lot to do with it. He suspected he was somewhere under the snowy reaches of Mount Ekuyo-Mah, there were glitters of ice on the walls, and if he remembered correctly it was mid-way through summer.

His nose tickled as he swam, it was a great distance away but he had the sense for such things, blood, and a lot one might add. It could be miles before he found the source but my was it tantalizing. He spent a large amount of his time in these tunnels searching for the glowing mushrooms native to certain regions, as such, he didn't get many chances to feed. He was starving in the literal sense and he knew if he went much longer he'd start to age, or simply die from boredom. Nothing had quite the same thrill as that of battle! He had plenty of scarred scales to prove his fondness for the kill, but he could never die, not from wounds like those of the kicks of frantic creatures in the throes of death.

He followed the trails of murder for many hours at a leisurely pace, he was in no rush and whatever had died still lay in the waters, no kill meant for food would be left to bleed so thoroughly. There'd be little left for him to drink anyway and it was merely the glance at a corpse he was so interested in. He wondered how it died, was it an accident? He hoped not, maybe he could bring justice to the killer, and get a nice feed too. The waters soon grew warmer and the taste touched his tongue, he was getting closer.

It grew strong very quickly, he could feel the burn in his throat, he couldn't see it, his eyes were poorly adept at picking up the hues, but he could taste it in the waters, feel it right through his soul. It was electric! It made his body burn!

He could feel it, the thickness of the water, the vibrancy of the fight, energy so strong he could see it! Blurs of rainbow colours in the warm waters! He floated to the surface and made his way onto the stone, allowing his eyes to adjust as he took note of the statue before him, he knew this place well and frequented it often. The tiny feline, on the other hand, was new to him.

"Oh? Little pet, what are you doing here?" he asked his tone sarcastic, dry, like that of the devil, yes oh so alluring. "Can't you smell it, little one? Did it lure you too? If you like I can add your blood to the mix, I'd enjoy the show, I can see the warmth of it, it would look like a rainbow of swirling patterns, you'd be art! And I'd be fed."

He purred his words, and meant every one. This was a question, not mocker. If she wanted to be a part of this beautiful event he would help her, not and he'd simply flirt then scare her from his caves. Not his, but she was far more a stranger than he.

The pulse, the energy she'd felt was starting to fade away. Whatever had happened was over, the bloody water had been what was left over to the violence but now it was starting to fade along with the excited pulses she'd been getting. The strong feeling had fooled her into thinking the energy was some supernatural occurrence but in reality it had probably been some elaborate murder. Well... everyone has to meet their end. Even the murderer will be murdered by death. Still, it is a pity that the feeling was only that. Her thought was callous but it was the truth.

Now her thoughts were distracted by something else, not another energy but a scent. It was distinctly reptilian with a canine undertone but that strange combination wasn't what caught her attention, the scent of blood and death that seemed to permeate within that hybrid smell was what attracted her. Maybe her visit wasn't going to be a waste after all...

The voice that addressed her was slick and sarcastic, like the devil himself was speaking to her, she found it immensely attractive. His words did not sit well with her but it wasn't uncommon for others to think that she was weak because of her size. Still his words seemed to be a little more than mere mockery, even so he would learn quickly that she was more than capable of defending herself.

"Why yes, my reptilian friend, I was lured here by a scent. Or rather, an energy in the air. Though as kind as your offer is," Here she rose slowly to her paws and turned to face what had to be one of the ugliest creatures she'd ever seen. But really what had she expected with a scent like his? Still she stared deliberately into the creature's eyes, knowing full well that mortals had trouble matching her gaze. "I shall have to decline. The Shadow lets no one spill her blood no matter how charming they may be." She stepped one step closer to him, completely unafraid of his heavier form. "So I'm afraid you'll have to find some other 'little pet' to feed on. Though I'm sure there's a limitless supply in this underwater dystopia." She blinked endearingly at him and inhaled his aroma of blood and death, oh, how sweet it was.

He wasn't used to such bold acts and had expected to scare her away with nothing but a dangerous voice. Her eyes were piercing, everything about them told him to look away but he would not, he'd rather die the allow such a being to see his eyes downcast rather then likewise defiant. He was unmovable, but he sensed that she was, too.

"Oh, come now. Dystopia is somewhat of a harsh word, would't you say?" He asked, his tone mocking, his eyes narrowed but the signs of a smile and the twitch of his ears said otherwise. "Surely you'd find this place to your liking, given time. After all, little pet, what more fitting a place for 'the' shadow?" he said, lowering his head so he could stare unblinkingly, his own eyes level with hers. He looked her up and down, analytically, mapping out her features. Her presence was somewhat... Well, not typical for one of her kind. She was strong, fearless, even in the face of death itself, he admired her already.

"I suppose," he drawled "Dystopia is quite a flattering word, also." he mused, allowing a dangerous grin to creep across his features. "Though, I'm afraid, I'll have to make this your permanent resting grounds." he said, his tone much lighter, his eyes wide and his ears back. The area was flooded with loud maniacal laughter, his lips rolled up to bare his duel set of fangs. He grinned at her with complete adoration, the way a lover grins at their other half, before dropping to his stomach in one quick fluid motion and slithering towards her, faster than possible for most creatures, growling playfully as he made for a bite at her neck.

This guy had a lot of guts because even though she was staring intently into his eyes he didn't look away. He stared defiantly back at her. Hmm... she liked that. She liked it a lot. One hundred percent true defiance in a mortal was hard to come by but it seemed that this gator-wolf had some. Intriguing.

She stood still, studying the creature just as he was studying her. As she noted before he wasn't the best looking guy that she'd ever seen but his scent and defiance made him fascinating. The perfect fusion of canine --perhaps a wolf-- and alligator was, his eyes were slitted like the perfect example of a reptile. "Hmm... touche, my friend. I suppose a cat like me could come to enjoy this quaint little cave." Her smile became more of a lopsided smirk as she continued to talk to this creature. He was quite the character with his humor that wasn't unlike her own.

"Dystopia is quite a flattering word, also." Shadow didn't miss the evil smile that came across his face, no, she noted it. A shiver ran down her spine because she believed that some action was about to unfold... she liked action, especially when it could be turned into something theatrical. "Though, I'm afraid, I'll have to make this your permanent resting grounds."

[/i] Loud laughter erupted from the creature in front of her. It was laughter that she found herself joining in since she really couldn't help it. He would find that she was not like his normal prey.

"Haha! Come on, friend, let's see you make this my grave. If you can!"[/color] With that she dropped to the ground with her head between her forepaws and her haunches in the air, they waggled side-to-side like she was a kitten about to pounce on a ball of yarn. The gator-wolf was surprisingly fleet on his feet as he neared her. Shadow waited until he was close enough to make a grab for her throat then quite suddenly she vaporized into an intangible black mist just as the strong jaws would have clamped shut on her.

The mist made its way around the gator-wolf until it was right above the middle of his back then it materialized into the silver cat once more, where she was poised to sit neatly on his back. "Tsk tsk tsk, I thought you were gonna feed on me, sweetie. You'll have to do much better than that. Come on! Let's see some more effort!"[/color] She gave a light trill of laughter and waited for the gator-wolf's response. Ah, she really was having a lot of fun.

Her barely felt her take form on his back, the thick leathery plates dimming his sensitivity. He tilted his head to the side to blink a narrowed eye towards her, she seemed so petite, so fragile. Her fur was delicate, she held infinite grace, the only tarnishings on her pristine fur was that of her symbols.

He smiled up at her in the brief few seconds that followed, finding amusement in her almost mocking tone. The light laughter that followed was melodic, more than pleasing to his ears. He very much liked the sound. He stood abruptly, leaping forward before slamming down on the ground some three meters away in hopes it would dislodge the feline. The sheer amount of weight he'd thrown, coupled with the fragile nature of the caves caused the ground to tremble.

Sneaky little one, aren't you? I'm sure that arrogance wasn't luck of the draw, you've got a few tricks you're keen to show? He asked with a deadly smile, twisting his body around to face the general direction he imagined the she-cat to be. She could have quite easily sunk her claws into his flesh and he would have felt nothing.

He had to admit he already liked this creature, tricky little thing that she was. There was much more to her, he could tell, ad he could feel his body burn with excitement. He wanted to know what made such a small thing so brave and defiant, it pleased him to no end, and of course the action was welcome. He'd not had a truly believable fight in years. Though he doubted this was much of a fight, they were playing, like pups. If either one of them proved weaker, than by all right they should die. If he grabbed her he'd kill her, but he dearly hoped he didn't get the chance.

Shadow curled her tail around her paws casually and began licking one forepaw as if she didn't have a care in the world. Therefore when the creature reared up on his rear paws she was nearly caught off guard but she managed to cling onto his back with her claws, until he slammed onto the ground. Then she allowed herself to be thrown from his back where she landed a few feet away on her paws in the classic cat fashion.

She noted the trembling of the chamber with a small chuckle. My my, he can sure throw his weight around. She gave a wide toothy grin as the animal turned around to face her. "You could say that. After all, if I didn't have any tricks wouldn't I be trembling in my fur right now? A normal kitty wouldn't stand a chance against a deadly creature like yourself." Her whiskers were trembling but it wasn't with fear, it was with excitement. She hadn't gotten to flex her powers in a long while but today would be the day that she had some fun.

The silver feline turned her back as if she was going to walk away and leave but as she walked the ground behind her was starting to change. Where her paws touched the ground and a few feet in front it was starting to get darker, shadows were starting to condense and collect. Until after a few moments there lay a large shadow on the ground in the shape of the gator-wolf behind her.

Shadow finally turned around with a self-satisfied grin before saying one word, "Rise."

[/color] Now the shadow began to come from the ground and take a solid shape, a shape that exactly mimicked that of the alligator-wolf. When it stopped growing it was the same size and shape as the creature before it, the only difference was the glowing red eyes and completely black form. The feline giggled as she trotted over to the shadow-creature and leaped up onto its back in between its shoulder blades. "Look! I have my own gator-boy, and this one won't throw me off. Isn't that right, darlin'?"[/color] In response the red-eyed creature gave a low growl. "Would you like to see what he can do, sweetie?"[/color] Without waiting for a reply she gave a small chirp which was a signal for the shadow-creature to attack, and attack it did. The creature rushed forward towards the gator-wolf in an attempt to ram him and possibly get his teeth around one of his legs.

Though he had to admit, hearing such a tiny creature say it in such defiance was... Rather adorable. He chuckled as he watched her pad away but did not miss the darkness that slowly enveloped the ground where she walked, he recognized the form quickly, it was like looking down on himself, well, a silhouette of himself at least. He felt the excitement gnaw at the inside of his belly and his chest felt like it might explode, he could feel the adrenaline already, he knew this was going to be good, exciting, deadly. He could taste it.

She spoke and her tone matched how he felt, he knew she was enjoying this too, oh what fun! He grinned wider, watching the peculiar shadow begin to rise from the ground, little strands of darkness snapping upwards as the monstrosity took form. It was solid, he could see it's teeth, black as the darkest night. He shuddered with excitement. He laughed at the tone of endearment she used when speaking with the non-creature, but he knew this was but a brief interlude in their battle. He lowered his head, balanced his weight evenly and all paws and growled at the creature, though it was far from fierce, his chuckle managed to find it's way up with it and the sound was somewhat terrifying. "Come" he laughed the moment it charged, he was heavy, slow to move, he hoped this creature was the same though he anticipated the dynamics of shadows would be somewhat different. He dropped, turned his side against the raging beast and felt it collide with his thick leathery scales, the force alone pushed him a good foot further than where he started but his hide acted as a shock absorber and he pulled away relatively unharmed.

Spinning around quickly he made to grab at the creatures leg, delighted to find the beast had attempted the same maneuver, and instead of his teeth finding vulnerable mock-flesh his jaws clashed painfully against that of his attacker. It had snapped shut on his lower jaw, and he had a firm grip on it's upper, but he wasn't going to risk losing any part of himself and pulled away quickly, feeling the delicate underside of his snout rip as he tried to wiggle free, laughing. At the same time he swung his rear end around, slamming his weight into the creature and flicking his tail against it's side, hoping the shock might help him free and or wound the monster.

When she and her shadow creature had rushed forward, she made sure to connect a few tendrils of shadow from the creature's back around her paws to keep from being thrown off. The last thing she needed was to be thrown off of her own creature, wouldn't that just make her look silly in front of her sweet-smelling friend?

Shadow crouched down to keep balanced when they collided with the gator-wolf, the blow was a heavy one and in that charge they managed to push their opponent back. The reptilian shadow's attempt at a leg bite was met with a similar move on the gator-wolf's part. Their jaws collided and unlike his opponent that felt obligated to keep his limbs in tact, the shadow creature felt no such reserve; it only wanted to follow the instinct inside him to kill, pain or no pain. So, it ignored the grip that painfully clamped on its upper jaw and tried its hardest to rip the lower jaw from his victim. Unfortunately for him --but fortunate for his opponent-- the gator-wolf managed to pull free.

Immediately he tried to lunge for his opponent again but was stopped by a powerful force against his side. The weight of the gator-wolf slamming against it managed to throw the beast off-balance, it took a step back and lashed its tail. If the shadow actually had lungs the air might have been knocked from it but as it was the beast just let out a loud and angry roar. The cat on its back had her ears flattened and eyes narrowed but the connecting shadows kept her from being thrown in the last attack. Shadow raised slightly from her crouching position and relaxed herself a little, her twinkling eyes told only too well how much she was enjoying the scuffle. "Nice counter, I almost thought that my darling was going to mess up that pretty face of yours."

Completely controlled by instinct the shadow creature tried to lunge at the gator-wolf's back after it recovered itself. His goal was to squash his opponent beneath his weight while snapping at his neck. Shadow didn't think this was a good plan since she'd felt the thick scales on the gator-wolf's back but her creatures didn't hold the brain power that she did. They were just empty shells running on instinct and following the orders that she gave. Well, at least they were always out to make mommy proud.

He bared his teeth, snarling loudly as his lips rolled back and the dark of his gums looked frightening as the held his massive fangs, blood rolled down his throat and chin but it was barely a flesh wound. He was laughing and growling and so hyped on the ecstasy of the moment he barely noticed the woodland scent of an approaching deity he knew well. Instead he brace himself for another attack, this time meeting it had on as he returned the charge, just as keen to get under the beast and at it's jugular as it was to get at he back and neck.

Barely a second before the two struck he heard the sing-song voice of Kanjisu, the shadow stopped and he slid to a halt, glaring into the red eyes of the non-creature barely inches from his own. His snarled slowed into nothingness, he was so close to winning this! He still could, but he wouldn't risk it, Kitsu could stop him and he'd still be in the same spot, just with an angry deity instead of an ashamed one.

He didn't know what had happened here but he sensed it was something terrible. The fact he now had an immortal and a deity tearing each-other apart in his caves was only adding to the terrible aura the place was permeating. He swam through the murky water as quickly as his form would allow, which wasn't very fast considering his size, until he reached the place of the fight. He rose from the depths and stared unhappily at the two creatures. When he spoke his voice was akin to the most pleasant music, like a bird singing in the morning or the rushing of water over smooth stones, it was unbearably beautiful.

"Stop" he sung boldly, forcing the shadow being into stillness.

"Surely you two can tell that this is hardly the time nor place," he scolded, drawing the attention of the two. "Vazir, I've told you your antics are not welcome here, this is a place of worship." he sighed, lowering his head to be level with his. His antlers made it difficult, throwing off the balance of his neck, but he knew the frightful beast only showed respect to those willing to look him in the eye. The level had to be even, else he might assume he was being looked down upon. He was a fickle creature, hard to control and at times a little impulsive, it seemed to Kanjisu that he wasn't sure what his plot in life was, as though he was constantly looking for something or someone to guide him. Kanji had tried to be that guiding force, with no such luck.

Vazir scowled, clearly unimpressed with the interruption of his fight. He loved the fight, always had. It's one reason why the two clashed so severely. Kanji ignored him, turning his attention instead to the feline sitting proudly on her steed of darkness. He smiled kindly at the creature but it was not entirely sincere, the two had met before on several occasions but only fleetingly, still he knew her well enough to know she would have been attracted here by the demonic energies, even he wasn't sure what had happened here but he knew a distraction when he saw one. However, he was fearful to think of what terrible crime would warrant something so... Horrid, as the scent and feel of this place. "I trust you came here to inspect the waters? Have you any idea what it is?" he asked slowly, his melodic voice holding a tone of confusion rarely present.

Shadow silently urged her creature on, eager to so what the outcome of the fight would be. Her black eyes were widened as her creature's mouth got closer to the gator-wolf's neck all the while the gator-wolf came closer to her own creature's jugular. A sinister grin was forming on her face as the show of brute violence and silently the word "yes" was forming on her lips as a primal ball of joy formed in her belly. Abruptly her joy was ended when her creature, her creature, was called to a stop by a voice that she knew well. No one else sung in a voice quite so sickeningly melodious. It was Kitsu Kanji.

Her face changed from one of savage joy to one of intense annoyance. How dare he scold her and her acquaintance? A glare was focused down on her shadowy mount, oh how she wished her creatures weren't so hopelessly vulnerable to the Being of Time. "Oh, lighten up, Spiny-Back. We were only havin' a bit of fun. There's nothin' wrong with a little bit of rough-housin'." The tendrils of shadow that had bound her to the creature evaporated as she raised a paw to strike it over the head with her claws exposed. She gave a sharp hiss at it to command it to move but of course that was useless. Kitsu-Kanji's time power rendered her shadow creations useless which was one reason why she could do without the other god's presence.

Finally she settled for just sitting atop her mount, barely managing to keep a pout off of her face. Her dignity was barely intact so to feel that she was regaining a tiny bit of it she raised a paw and licked it slowly. The paw then was drawn ever so slowly across her face as she pretended to take great care in washing her face, after interrupting their glorious fight Kitsu could wait for an answer. Besides she wanted him to know how fully annoyed she was by the fact that she'd been interupted and how her creature had been controlled by him. Finally, after a couple of minutes she lowered her paw and eyeballed it while she gave her answer. "I did."

[/color] She said curtly before giving her paw one more lick. Lowering it, she looked the other god fully in the eyes with great disdain. "I feel that some sort of murder took place. I've a great sense for these things, y'know."[/color] Now she felt her dignity was fully in place, after all she could sense what sort of deaths took place, not he. His confusion was something that she didn't share and it made her feel more powerful than him.

That wasn't to say he didn't respect him, but the two had rarely met eye-to-eye. He sat on his haunches, but did not stay seated for long, the weight of his body would soon become overbearing, it was much more efficient to save his energy in case it was required. He lay himself down, crossed his fore-paws and rested his head on his legs, effectively appearing thoroughly uninterested with the deity.

He huffed at the questions, rolling his eyes then closing them tight as though he were about to ave a nap, but after a long amount of silence he flicked one eye open to peer curiously at the feline, who was openly mocking him, taking all the time she wanted and seemingly ignoring him while she was busy grooming. He chuckled to himself, bearing a wide sharp toothed grin at her back. With the mention of murder his ears perked and he lifted his head in their direction. So he was right, this wasn't a hunt for food, there had been way too much blood. But what kind of murder would draw the attention of a deity and a tiny feline?

"Oh ho? So not only did you allow a murder in your home but you know nothing of it? My, my. What a mess, Kanjisu." he smirked, picking at the rocks with his thumb as he quickly lost interest in whatever the deity was going to say.

He never attempted to reason why, it had just always been the case and he'd come to understand that often these things cannot be changed. Instead he just watched her expectantly as she groomed, his gaze even and his ears forward as though she'd been saying something intensely interesting the entire time. He wouldn't let it become apparent that he was displeased with her, she'd love that. It would do nothing but encourage further frustrating behavior. When she finally spoke he scowled with concern, this was not a good development. He ignored azir's wise crack and continued like the gator-creature had never spoken.

This is... Not good, what kind of murder would cause this? Surely there would be a body, a scent, or for the blood to have been washed away through the tunnels. he mused in his melodic tone, sound far to chirpy for the weight of the situation. Do you know any other details? I'm... Less inclined to see myself, I'm not very fond of such visions. he said slowly, tilting his head slightly as he pondered the outcome. He could use his song to go back, if only briefly, but something of that magnitude would be dangerous and it could do more harm than good, particularly if the trio were thrown into nothingness, as often happened one one traveled to far back or forward.

He lowered himself down into a sitting position. I know you have an eye for such things, anything you can find would be most helpful.
